While Nintendo is busy slashing champagne after the 13.4 million copies sold for Animal Crossing, hundreds of players around the world are still suffering from the famous Joy-Con Drift. As a reminder, this problem affecting the Joy-Con (the joysticks of the Switch) causes a random spurious signal to be sent to the joysticks. Result, your character advances alone, without you touching the controller. In some cases, it is even impossible to control its movements precisely.

CEO apologizes on behalf of Nintendo

Faced with the growing number of complaints, UFC Que Choisir had demanded that Nintendo repair the controllers for free. In January 2020, Nintendo offered to repair or replace defective Joy-Con for free. After several months with no real solution, the president of the Japanese firm Shuntaro Furakawa officially excused with players during a question and answer session for the VGC site.

« We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers regarding the Joy-Con controllers. ” He pursues : ” We keep improving our products, but currently the Joy-Con Drift is the subject of a class action in the United States and this is an open question, so we cannot comment on the specific measures that we could take “, he explains.

Indeed, due to the secrecy of the instruction, the CEO cannot give any details on possible tracks envisaged by Nintendo to solve the problem. In parallel with the concerns related to the Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo recently went to war against the pirates who modify the Switch with a chip. Indeed, the Japanese firm has put the manager of a company specializing in computer repair in order for him to immediately stop his activity of installing a chip on Nintendo Switch.
