Nine corona infections at Waasland-Beveren, club decides …

Everyone will be subjected to a new corona test on Friday. After that, the club will decide whether to request a postponement of the league game against KV Oostende. Club spokesperson Martijn De Jonge confirms this to Belga.

“As a result of one positive corona case at Waasland-Beveren, new Covid-19 tests were carried out on Tuesday at the first team, technical staff and employees of Waasland-Beveren,” the club announced on the website on Wednesday. “This showed that seven players from the A-squad have tested positive for the corona virus. Fortunately, the employees and technical staff passed a negative test. All positive cases were immediately quarantined, they are also in good health. ” On Thursday, two additional positive cases were added.

The players of Waasland-Beveren will be subjected to a new corona test on Friday. After that, the club will decide whether to request a postponement of the league game against KV Oostende. Club spokesperson Martijn De Jonge confirms this to Belga. “The postponement depends on the results of tomorrow,” explains De Jonge.

After the practice match between the Beverse promises and SV Hoek, the league game against KV Oostende is now also threatened. From seven infections in the first team, a team can submit a request for postponement to the football association. It would be the first game in 1A postponed due to the corona crisis.
