Bas Nijhuis states that referees in the Eredivisie do not receive compensation from the KNVB, but that they can receive an advance. According to the 43-year-old Tukker, the arbitrators live on the match premiums, which amount to between 2500 and 3500 euros.
Nijhuis agreed on Monday Veronica Inside that the Dutch refereeing corps is severely affected by the corona crisis. “We live on match premiums, so we don’t have anything now. A match fee in the Eredivisie is between 2500 and 3500 euros.”
There is no compensation, but in the meantime another agreement has been made with the KNVB. “We have now received an arrangement from the KNVB for the first time that we can receive an advance. They still assume that the competition may be resumed,” says Nijhuis. “Of course you have young guests who have a very small contract. They really chose to whistle and have very little.”
It is a reasonable solution for them, says Nijhuis. “But the question is if there are no matches what will happen next.”
