Whether you are a fan or not, we all know Niels Destadsbader in Flanders. The main link of the VRT face with football is probably his role in FC De Kampioenen.
On Sunday, the presenter had all his appointments canceled in order to watch the European Championship final of the Belgian Cats (the national female basketball team). The Cats managed to win against Spain and thus wrote the European title on their list of achievements.
Niels Destadsbader was of course extremely happy, but not only because of his chauvinism. He is in fact good friends with one of the players who had a large share in the successes of the Cats: Julie Vanloo. Julie herself is a huge Club Brugge fan.
She recently almost fainted when she suddenly spotted Charles De Ketelaere in the stands. On Instagram, Niels released a wonderful message for Julie: “I am so proud of you, sweetheart. As an athlete and as a person. All those years of work and struggle to be where you are now. Overdeserved!”
