Niels Destadsbader Fans Launch Fundraising Campaign After Loft Fire

Some big fans of singer and presenter Niels Destadsbader (35) have started a fundraising campaign after a major fire destroyed the TV face’s loft in Deerlijk. A day later the counter stands at almost 2,000 euros.

Sofie, Cindy and Delphine say they are “super fans” of Niels Destadsbader. For years they have been going to his concerts together, or sitting in the audience of his TV shows. But when they heard on Friday afternoon that Destadsbader’s loft in Deerlijk was destroyed by a fire in the underlying lighting company, they decided to take action.

The three 42-year-old ladies from Stabroek, Nazareth and Brasschaat started a fundraising campaign because they would like to give something back to the singer/presenter. “Not only do we enjoy his music, but we have also made many friends through him,” says Sofie. “That is why we want to organize this campaign to support Niels. We also know that fire insurance will intervene. But above all we want to support him and show that we are thinking of him. “We want to bring as many fans together as possible and show him that we are really concerned and affected by it,” she says. “We stand behind him as one team. And every little bit helps.”

Multiple actions

There is also a second support campaign for Destadsbader, organized by members of the fan club ‘Stadsiegirls’. “He has had so much nonsense thrown at him recently, including about that expensive contract with the VRT,” says Sarah Baeten (39) from Neeroeteren. “And now he has this going on. He lost many highly personal things with great emotional value in that fire.”

“Niels earns enough money, and the insurance also comes in,” says Sarah. ‘But with our fundraising campaign we want to try to bring back those things that are not for sale. We contacted the company that makes the MIAs. We would also like to re-deliver to him Will Tura’s signed book, which he valued so much. The Golden K’s too, are gold records… Those things come at a cost. We want to put our own money into the campaign, but we could also use some help. Niels deserves it.
