Nicaragua receives more doses of Cuban vaccines and AstraZeneca

At noon this Tuesday, Nicaragua received a new donation from Canada, through the Covax mechanism, 326,400 AstraZeneca doses. Likewise, almost a million doses of Sovereign 2 and Abdala were received from Cuba, the designated vice president, Rosario Murillo, briefly reported.

“This donation of 326,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines received through the Covax Mechanism meets the principles of equity and solidarity. Canada shows its support with the Nicaraguan population, ”the PAHO / WHO Nicaragua regional office shared on Twitter.

So far, the Government of Spain has been the main donor of the AstraZeneca vaccine, with a total of 1.7 million doses delivered between August and October of this year.

Murillo does not provide further details

Regarding the Cuban vaccines Soberana and Abdala, Murillo only mentioned that the amount received is to complete the vaccination and immunization scheme for the population between 2 and 17 years of age. However, he did not provide further details about the second or third dose.
