Tim Stützle has now also scored his first goal a few days after his debut in the NHL. And what a one! The goal was spectacular.
Ottawa – Last season everyone only spoke of Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers. The German was chosen as the first MVP of the NHL from Germany. With this premiere, Draisaitl’s home country moved a little more into the North American ice hockey focus. Now the next youngster could become a league superstar.
NHL: Tim Stützle is only 19 and hits like a great man
It’s about Tim Stützle, who celebrated the premiere on his 19th birthday. The young man plays for the Ottawa Senators from Canada. And the season that has been running since January 13 is a special one because of Corona – and also for Stützle. Because the day after his debut he scores a sensational goal that requires extremely fine technique.
The young player with the number 19 hammers a puck from the air with a slap shot on goal. Shortly before, he let it appear on the ice. The beam landed behind the line. A debut hit that couldn’t be more beautiful.

In an interview with the German press agency, the youngster spoke about the intense time in Canada and about the first goal in the best ice hockey league in the world.
NHL: Tim Stützle on first hit – “very important”
How did the past few days feel with the first practice session, the first game and now the first goal in Ottawa?
Tim Stützle: It all felt very, very good. It was a lot of fun. I don’t think that being received so well is a given. Sure, it was tough in the beginning with the quarantine we had to do, but I think we made the best of it. I think you can see that we are a team that works very, very hard together and gives everything for everyone. That’s why it’s a lot of fun to play here.
What is the significance of this first goal?
Stützle: A very great importance of course. There is always a burden off your shoulders. But in the end I wanted to get out today with a win and unfortunately that didn’t work out. On the whole, we did it well and played together very well as a team. We can take out things that we still have to work on. But I think that’s completely normal, it’s the second game of the season and we didn’t have much time to prepare.
How big is the difference playing in the NHL compared to any other player experience so far?
Stützle: It’s a very, very big difference. It all goes much faster. Even with the small ice surface. It always takes me a few minutes to get used to it. But I think it worked out better today than in the first game and I think it will get better from game to game. It’s just fun to work with the guys out there. They are all great guys and you can learn a lot from them.
