NHL: the composition of the sections is taking shape

Not finalized yet, and still subject to change, but the 2020-21 four-division re-alignment currently looks like this according to sources:

All-Canadian teams

The short travel distances would be particularly interesting for these teams, as for most American clubs.

In the Western United States, the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks would form a section with the Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Blues of St. Louis and the Vegas Golden Knights.

The other American division would be made up of clubs from Carolina, Columbus, Detroit, Chicago, Florida, Minnesota, Nashville and Tampa Bay. This section is particularly interesting since it pairs teams traditionally evolving in the Eastern Association with others working in the West.

Should this plan go ahead, the Montreal Canadiens would play the entire next season against the six other clubs in Canada, namely the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks.
