Next-gen war claims first Playstation 5 victim

War. War never changes. This is what a wise man once said. It’s a brutal fight every so many years. The next-gen war between the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 is still etched in many memories. Sometimes, by sound or by a smell, one gets flashbacks to that dark period. The arguments back and forth under technical videos. Angry comments under video reviews. The screams of the fanboys and the screams of the fangirls. And now in 2020 this war has also taken its toll. The first Playstation 5 has died.

AngryCentaurGaming drew the short straw

The first victim has already fallen a few days before the Playstation 5 should be released officially.

AngryCentaurGaming (ACG), known from Buy, Wait for Sale, Never Touch, something we also use as a format for, for example Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was unfortunately the unfortunate owner of this particular Playstation 5. The problem was with the external storage. When the Playstation 5 came out of standby, reports appeared that the storage was corrupt and that it had to be rebuilt. Unfortunately this was in vain and the first Playstation 5, after a lot of pushing and pulling, also from Sony’s side, officially passed away.

A lucky break for his viewers because everyone who has transferred money through his Patreon in the last 15 days, to check the new videos for example, will get this money back. A nice gesture.

Expanding Playstation 5 storage will not be possible at launch

This message comes after Sony announced a week ago that you cannot immediately expand your memory on day 1. Since the Playstation 5 has a gigantic fast SSD, you naturally want to stuff it completely with the very latest games. Unfortunately, this is not possible, Sony reported The Verge. As a result, the new Playstation unfortunately has the same problem as the Xbox Series S: very little storage.

Mark Cerny already mentioned in his highly technical presentation The Road to PS5 that expanding the Playstation 5’s storage, mainly with M.2 SSDs, was hopefully possible at launch. But this is not going to work. Whether this has to do with the same problem as what ACG experienced is not known. If this is indeed the reason, managing your storage is a small price to pay. In any case, less than buying a new console.

So if you have to choose will it be Miles Morales or Black Ops Cold War?
