Israeli scientists have listed food items that increase the risk of developing cancer.

It’s about antioxidant-rich foods.

These compounds protect the cells of the human body from damage. This is why foods rich in antioxidants are considered healthy.

In addition, the compounds help lower cholesterol levels and have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system.

However, these substances have another side of the coin: due to them, the intestinal microflora turns into favorable for the development of tumors.

Conclusions of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem staff published in the scientific journal Nature.

The experts have listed antioxidant-rich foods:

  • Black tea;
  • green tea;
  • fruits;
  • berries;
  • nuts;
  • chocolate.

As part of the study, specialists used antibiotics that destroy the intestinal microflora with a mutant p53 protein. As a result, the organs of laboratory rodents ceased to be a medium for the development of tumors and the spread of cancer.

Scientists recommend that people with a predisposition to bowel cancer be wary of foods rich in antioxidants.
