Stricter restrictions in 12 municipalities
As of November 27, 12 municipalities have stricter restrictions due to Covid-19.
Restrictions have been introduced in Daugavpils, Baldone, Krāslava, Salacgrīva, Aknīste, Varakļāni, Mārupe, Mālpils, Smiltene, Garkalne, Limbaži and Salaspils counties.
Municipalities are adapting quickly to the new rules.
The most difficult is with distance learning.
There are students in municipalities who do not have a computer or internet connection at home.

The spread of Covid-19 continues
Another 637 new cases of Covid-19 were discovered last day, but two patients died.

Doctors want higher premiums
Doctors want higher bonuses for work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
For example, in Lithuania doctors receive a salary supplement, but in Latvia only 20% of the salary.
In other European countries, more money is being spent on health care and patient care.
Latvian doctors say that the 183 million euros allocated for next year is not enough.
The Medical Association has written a letter to government officials asking for a review of health care funding.
The Saeima decides on the budget
On the fifth day, the Saeima considers the state budget bills for the next year.
On Friday, November 27, deputies supported changes to the law on state social insurance.
This means that from the middle of next year, all employees, including the self-employed, will have to pay social contributions.
Riga Airport loses in dispute with Ryanair
Riga Airport has lost in a dispute with the Irish airline Ryanair.
The Riga Regional Court acknowledged that the airport must pay court costs and pay Ryanair a total of 1.6 million euros.
The dispute concerns the airport’s new passenger security charge, introduced eight years ago.
The Irish airline was required to pay the levy because it was not provided for in the previous contract.
