Stricter restrictions in 12 municipalities

As of November 27, 12 municipalities have stricter restrictions due to Covid-19.

Restrictions have been introduced in Daugavpils, Baldone, Krāslava, Salacgrīva, Aknīste, Varakļāni, Mārupe, Mālpils, Smiltene, Garkalne, Limbaži and Salaspils counties.

Municipalities are adapting quickly to the new rules.

The most difficult is with distance learning.

Doctors want higher premiums

Latvian doctors say that the 183 million euros allocated for next year is not enough.

The Medical Association has written a letter to government officials asking for a review of health care funding.

The Saeima decides on the budget

On the fifth day, the Saeima considers the state budget bills for the next year.

On Friday, November 27, deputies supported changes to the law on state social insurance.

This means that from the middle of next year, all employees, including the self-employed, will have to pay social contributions.

Riga Airport loses in dispute with Ryanair

Riga Airport has lost in a dispute with the Irish airline Ryanair.

The Riga Regional Court acknowledged that the airport must pay court costs and pay Ryanair a total of 1.6 million euros.
