News 2021. The new Piaggio Beverly in world premiere: from scooters to crossover – News

For years one of the best-selling scooters in Italy, Piaggio Beverly celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a quantum leap that makes it closer than ever to a real crossover capable of combining the dynamism brought by high wheels with the performance of a large GranTurismo.

All this, without losing its proverbial agility as well as that charm and elegance that have made it one of the most chosen and admired two-wheel products ever.

The responsibility for this metamorphosis must be identified above all in the new motorcycle-style chassis combined with new Piaggio HPE Euro 5 engines in 300 and 400 cc displacements, but also in the unprecedented technology that is expressed in the Keyless system, in digital instrumentation, in full LED lights and in advanced connectivity.

He is at ease in all situations, says Piaggio of his new Beverly, from commuting urban, where agility and manageability emerge, fine to extra-urban tourism medium and long range, even with a passenger, a situation in which it shows stability, power and comfort on board at the highest level.

Aesthetics and design

Moving on to the “shell”, the new design is sporty, with the totally redesigned front, while in the side view the shapes abandon the softness of the previous models to become taut and muscular lines that close towards a more streamlined and upwardly reaching back.

At the center of the new handlebar stands the front led projector, the same technology that also characterizes the direction indicators and the position lights which, placed on the sides of the shield, outline the edges, thus creating a Luminous “signature” which makes the new Beverly immediately recognizable even during the day.

In the rear area the tail ends with an original extractor profile that emerges in the center of the rear light unit, also LED.

The brand new number plate holder of motorcycle origin, positioned on the wheel, gives the rear of the new Beverly a slim and clean air.

Also new are the wheels, with a sporty design with seven split spokes, and the saddle, finished with double upholstery and double stitching.

The new engines

They make their debut on the new Piaggio Beverly two new and powerful Euro 5 engines of the HPS family – High Performance Engine – of 300 and 400 cc. Both units – single-cylinder 4-stroke, 4-valve, with liquid cooling and electronic injection – are the result of the experience of the Piaggio Group’s research and development center, whose interventions were aimed at obtaining higher performance and better driveability, reducing fuel consumption and noise.

The 300 cc engine increases in power by 23%, compared to the previous version of the same displacement reaching i 19 kW (25.8 hp) at 8000 rpm, while maximum torque increases by 15% to 26 Nm at 6250 rpm.

The 400 cc engine instead it replaces the previous 350 cc unit. The difference does not lie in the simple increase in volume: starting from an already extremely efficient engine, Piaggio technicians have further improved the mechanical and thermodynamic efficiency and reduced the already very low levels of vibrations and noise. The result is a power that reaches 26 kW (35.4 hp) at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 37.7 Nm at 5500 rpm, data that translated on the road mean performance and elasticity of travel.

Evolved chassis

Both units pair up with one extremely effective chassis. The double cradle frame in high-strength steel tubes and stamped sheet metal is combined with a new one on the front Showa fork with 35mm stanchions in diameter, while a new pair of Showa shock absorbers double acting and coil spring with 5-position adjustable preload.

Thanks to this supporting structure of a motorcycle nature and to the large wheels with light alloy rims (16 “at the front and 14” at the rear) the new Beverly ensures ride comfort and motorcycle road holding, while maintaining great agility and handling.

The 400 version also adopts wider tires (120/70 instead of 110/70 at the front and 150/70 instead of 140/70 at the rear), which ensure better stability at high speeds and is also distinguished by the double exhaust terminal and the standard fairing.

The hi-tech equipment

Piaggio Beverly also improves on the technological equipment front by adopting the keyless system to activate the ignition without having to insert the traditional key and thus making starting, opening the saddle and fuel flap easier and inserting the steering lock, all operations that can be done with the remote control in your pocket.

The “command bridge” welcomes a brand new one in the center 5.5 fully digital LCD instrumentation”, On the sides of which are positioned the new controls on the handlebar, completely redesigned in terms of ergonomics. The equipment is completed by the Piaggio MIA connectivity system, standard on the 400 HPE version, which allows connect the smartphone via Bluetooth to Beverly’s on-board electronic system.

Arrangements and colors

In the new Piaggio Beverly two very distinct souls coexist: that more elegant and refined on the one hand, represented by Beverly, is that more gritty and sporty on the other, which manifests itself in Beverly S. The first offers a range of elegant and glossy colors, such as Moon White and the two unprecedented colors Blue Oxygen e Cloud Gray combined with finishes with light, warm and enveloping metallic shades, the dark brown saddle and light gray wheel rims.

Piaggio Beverly S It stands out above all for its sporty matt graphite gray finishes. There are three dedicated chromatic variants: Comet silver e Black Storm, opaque, and the original and futuristic glossy tint Arancio Sunset. The S version is equipped with a new black saddle in two materials and dark gray rims.
