The 25-year-old emerged from the tunnel in the jersey and stood next to his teammates for a minute of applause in honor of Pelé as he wore it.

Pele sadly passed away earlier this week at the age of 82 after a series of health issues over the last few years.

Undoubtedly considered the greatest footballer of all time, he won three World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

Pelé has been an inspiration to many players around the world, resulting in numerous football greats paying tribute to him in recent days.

Among them was Newcastle star Guimaraes, who paid a heartfelt tribute to his compatriot on social media.

On Instagram, she wrote: “What remains, King, is your legacy, your history and all that you have made.

“We are grateful for everything you have provided to us.”
