New York, USA.- The authorities of the city of New York will require from all those who wish to attend mass events the “Excelsior Pass”, as it is known in English, to the digital passport that the state government is implementing to avoid a greater spread of the virus.
This passport will be working as one more application on the phone, and will be used to access stadiums, theaters and other public places. This new measure will be a requirement of the state government where it will be verified that the person is negative for COVID. Once the negativity test is presented, the person will even be able to access the famous Madison Square Garden.
The application works the same as those used by airlines for boarding. Each pass will have a special code that will be scanned at the event entry site, Governor Cuomo said.
The idea of developing this application was born from the need to control contagion, while the city gradually opens its doors. The governor commented that it is an urgent priority to keep the virus under control, while New York redoubles its efforts to vaccinate as many people as possible and thus fully reactivate the economy.
To cite one example, on February 23, New Yorkers had the opportunity to attend the first basketball game in almost a year, following the rules of social distancing. Now with this new COVID passport, apart from the authorities monitoring COVID cases among their attendees, they will also be able to assign you specific seats at events to ensure that the population respects the corresponding social distancing.
