KPK Chair Confirms to Investigate Jakarta’s Formula E Event

Semarang, CNN Indonesia

Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri emphasized that his party continues to explore reports of alleged corruption related to the implementation of Formula E DKI Jakarta 2022.

“The attitude of the KPK is the same, you just read about it in the media. The attitude of the KPK is the same. Yesterday, the answer was already there,” said Firli after opening the National Working Meeting of the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI) in Semarang, Thursday (11/11).

However, Firli was reluctant to talk further regarding the investigation carried out by his party on the Formula E event.

“It has been answered by the KPK leadership in Jakarta and we have conveyed it when there is an answer,” he said.

Previously, the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Karyoto, said that his party was currently investigating allegations of corruption related to the implementation of Formula E.

Karyoto said he was collecting various evidences to determine the exact chronology of the electric car racing event. Including to determine whether there is a criminal act of corruption in the case of the implementation of Formula E.

“The problem with formula E, according to my standards, I don’t want to talk about it. But because it has been widely circulated in the media, in principle, we are conducting an investigation,” he explained at a press conference, Wednesday (10/11).

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakpro themselves have submitted a 600-page document for the implementation of Formula E to the KPK, last Tuesday (9/11). The DKI Provincial Government also admitted that it was ready to be summoned for inspection.

The provincial government said that the submission of the document was to support the KPK’s steps in investigating the alleged corruption behind the plan to organize Formula E.

“The documents that we have submitted are complete, from the planning process to the final position. Hopefully it provides a complete picture of how we plan to implement Formula E,” said Head of the Jakarta Inspectorate Syaefulloh Hidayat.

Meanwhile, former KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah doubted the commitment of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to investigate allegations of corruption in the Formula E program and the PCR business.

Febri asked the KPK leaders to be really serious in handling the two cases. This is necessary so that Firli’s previous statement is not merely an empty message.

“The statement by the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission Firli Bahuri in investigating Formula E and the PCR business will be proven by time. Is it just talk or serious,” said Febri through his personal Twitter account, Monday (8/11).
