A tragedy occurred on Monday in the middle of rush hour at a subway station in Queens, New York. It was around 4:45 pm when a 48-year-old man accidentally bumped into another passenger on the crowded platform. Pushed, the 50-year-old dropped his cell phone, which landed on the tracks, explains the “New York Post”. According to several witnesses, the 50-year-old started yelling at the person who met him, ordering him to go down to the tracks to retrieve his device. The latter refused and the two men grabbed each other.

“We could hear them screaming on the mezzanine level. Then I heard screams and ran to the dock, ”testifies a maintenance worker. The owner of the cell phone had just pushed the other man onto the tracks as the subway entered the station. The many users who witnessed the tragedy tried to detain the 50-year-old, but he managed to escape by taking another meter. The individual was arrested shortly after by law enforcement. According to the maintenance man, the victim was still alive after the shock. But the man died of injuries sustained in the hospital.

This tragedy occurred two days after a similar attack in the Bronx. For no apparent reason, an individual pushed another passenger past an oncoming train. But, in this case, things got better, the witnesses were able to help the victim before it was too late. The author of this gesture is still sought. “I’m afraid to take the subway now. Nobody should die in the subway, that’s all, ”reacted Charlton D’souza, president of a group for the defense of public transport users.
