“Porn Literacy: An Intersectional Focus on Mainstream Pornography” was a course given to 120 students (some in person, others by Zoom) and, according to the New York Post, taught by Justine Ang Fonte, the Health & Wellness. director of Dalton in New York, who says on her website that she has “Looked forward to disrupting health education for 10 years.”

Another section included a lesson on “The merchantability of OnlyFans”, an increasingly popular subscription service where people, mostly women, offer suggestive or pornographic photos and videos for a fee. While parents expressed outrage after finding out about the details of the class, the students seemed more confused by the presentation than anything else.

This student’s mother said that she and other parents are “Frustrated by what is happening” and the lack of warning or chance to withdraw from the course left her wondering “What else is the school up to?”
Several other parents asked administrators for lesson materials on “pornographic literacy”, but they were turned down.

After the lesson reports were made public and outrage mounted, Columbia school principal Dr William M. Donohue emailed the parents to apologize and admit that the lesson did not have “Represent our philosophy.”
“It is unfortunate that we did not inform ourselves better in advance of the specific content of the speaker,” he said. “In this case, the speaker did not align with our unique CGPS mission and for that, I apologize.”
