New York Police Make Another Arrest in Connection to Fentanyl Overdose at Divino Niño Daycare

Since Grei Méndez and Carlisto Acevedo Brito were arrested for the death of Nicholas Dominici, the child who died of a fentanyl overdose at the Divino Niño daycare, the New York Police have been looking for a third suspect: the husband of the manager.

However, another person involved was arrested by the authorities. This is Renny Paredes, who according to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, allegedly worked together and supplied the materials and drugs to those involved in trafficking.

“The arrest is one more step toward obtaining justice for the child victims of this heinous crime and their families,” the prosecutor said.

If found guilty, like the other two defendants, Renny Paredes faces a minimum of 20 years in prison that could become a life sentence.

Fentanyl found hidden in secret compartment

Our reporter Joaquín Torres, from Univision 41, went to 2707 Morris Avenue, in the Bronx, where he found that a “secret door” inside the daycare hid a compartment of fentanyl and other drugs.

After receiving a tip, authorities broke up the floor in the children’s play area, discovering the narcotics, as well as tools to process drugs.

Their escape occurred seconds before emergency services arrived to treat the children, including little Nicholas Dominici, who died of cardiac arrest.

This Thursday, the lawyers attended the court to continue with the judicial process of the detainees. Joaquín Torres specified that those arrested will appear again on October 5.
