New York Jets assistant coach Greg Knapp succumbed to his injuries Thursday after he had been in critical condition after suffering a bicycle accident.

The family of the 58-year-old broke the sad news, five days after Knapp was hit by a car in San Ramon, California. Seriously injured and unconscious, the coach never woke up.
“Greg’s contagious good humor is often the first impression most people have and how they will remember it. The phrase “He never met a stranger” sums up the zest Knapper brought to life. He had the unique gift of making everyone feel special, and for Knapper, they all were, ”the family statement shared on social media read.
Greg Knapp made his NFL debut as a coach in 1997. He has worked with several football greats, including quarterbacks Michael Vick and Peyton Manning. In the Jets, Zach Wilson was his new protégé.
The instructor has held a variety of roles with the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Flasks, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos, winning the Super Bowl with the latter in 2016. .
