New York: Israel’s favorite restaurant loses its Michelin star

During the award ceremony of the famous Michelin stars to reward the best restaurants, “Peter Luger”, the Israeli favorite meat spot in New York, lost its Michelin star for the first time in 38 years.

The legendary steakhouse opened in 1887 has become a culinary, historical and cultural landmark in the heart of Williamsburg. Serving the best beef, “Peter Luger” has received numerous awards including “Best American Steak”. The meat is selected by hand before being cured on site.

The Italian restaurant “Carbon”, which has been called the most loved restaurant by celebrities in the world, and in particular by the Israeli public, has also lost its Michelin star.

“There is a spirit of renewal in New York this year,” said the head of the Michelin Guide in the United States, who wished to remain anonymous.

In total, there are seventy-three Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City, five more than last year.

The Michelin Guide is a hotel and tourist gastronomic directory launched at the beginning of the 20th century by the Michelin tire company, which is still its publisher. He selects each year, according to his criteria, the hotels, restaurants and places that offer accommodation and meals, on which he provides information and opinions.
