New York hit hard, President Trump enlists military help

President Donald Trump gave a news conference last night, in which he promised not to stop until he won the fight against the corona virus. “When this is over, the economy will go like crazy,” Trump assured the American people, for example.

Emergency hospitals

The National Guard, part of the United States military, will be deployed in the U.S. states of New York, Washington, and California. The military is going to build four thousands-bed emergency hospitals to accommodate patients with Covid-19. According to Trump, half a million mouth masks are also currently being brought to the US state of New York.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio warned yesterday of massive medical equipment shortages. “We are about ten days away from major shortages,” said De Blasio. “If no more respirators arrive, people will die.”

Trump blames China

Trump partially blamed China in his press conference. He says he is “a little angry” with the country, because “crucial information about the epidemic was not distributed or spread late”. The US president also consistently spoke of ‘the Chinese virus’, and not of Covid-19.

New York is epicenter USA

New York State has become the epicenter of the outbreak in the United States. More than half of the infected individuals in the US are currently located in New York. In all fifty states, more than 33,000 patients are infected with Covid-19.

At least 400 people have died from the effects of the virus. More than a third of Americans have been asked by authorities to stay indoors, trying to prevent the virus from spreading.

‘It’s only getting worse’

“It’s only going to get worse,” De Blasio assured the American people in an interview with NCB News. “Everyone should know the truth. In April and May, the situation will get even worse.”

Democrats in the US Senate have held back a package of support measures against the economic blow of the new corona virus. The aid package, which is worth nearly trillion dollars, is intended to help businesses and the unemployed through the corona crisis.

Support measures

According to the Democrats, there is too little regulation for employees in health care. They also believe that the support package focuses too much on support for business. The plan was supposed to receive 60 votes in the United States Senate, but ended with 47 votes.

A number of Republican senators were unable to vote because they were quarantined. Republican Senator Rand Paul was the first member of the United States Senate to test positive for the corona virus.

Democrats and Republicans reunite to redesign the support package. If there is no agreement, Republicans threaten to re-vote the same support package. They expect to receive approval for the support measures.
