The skeleton of a Gorgosaurus is set to be auctioned in New York on Thursday. It is three meters high, seven meters long, 70 million years old and a relative of the tyrannosaurus. It is the first skeleton of such a dinosaur that has ever been offered for auction and could bring in up to eight million dollars (around 7.8 million euros), said the auction house Sotheby’s. This would make it the first skeleton that could go into private ownership. The Gorgosaurus probably lived more than 70 million years ago and, according to scientists, was significantly smaller than the Tyrannosaurus.
