New York Equities Conclusion: Inflation worries continue to weigh on the Dow

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The Dow Jones Industrial increased its recent losses somewhat on Wednesday. In the middle of the week, too, investors were worried that the central bank would be able to counter rising inflationary pressure sooner rather than later with higher interest rates. This would make stocks look worse than fixed income stocks. The minutes of the meeting of the US Federal Reserve from April 27 to 28, published in the course of trading, only partially allayed the concerns of investors.

The Dow fell by 0.48 percent to 33,896.04 points at the end, but made up for a large part of its interim losses of up to 1.7 percent. For the market-wide S&P 500 it went down by 0.29 percent to 4115.68 points. The technology-heavy Nasdaq 100, however, saved itself into positive territory and gained 0.15 percent to 13 237.91 points./la/he
