A spokesman for Weinstein said he was “disappointed but not surprised” by the decision. The public prosecutor was satisfied. It will uphold a conviction that has changed the way the judiciary approaches the complex prosecution of sex offenders.
More than 80 women had accused the once rich and powerful Weinstein of sexual abuse. The allegations, first published in the fall of 2017, sparked the MeToo movement. Weinstein is currently in jail in New York awaiting trial.
