A cooling center is a facility, such as a senior center or community center, where people can go to enjoy the comfort of air conditioning during a heat emergency.
There are many cooling centers around the city, most of which are open during normal business hours in the event of a heat wave.
The heat would really be coming on Monday and is expected to rise to over 100 in and around New York City on Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday as well.
