New update makes Wolcen much better

The action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem introduced several improvements with the update 1.0.8.0 from March 6th. Bugs were fixed, bosses weakened and the end game made fairer. But players are divided.

That’s going on: The developers of the action RPG Wolcen plan to polish up their game in the coming months. The colleagues of our sister magazine GameStar have that in an interview approved. Until then, players should not expect any new content, but some bug fixes and changes to the game balance.

Wolcen improves

The new patch 1.0.8.0 from March 6th does just that; Bugfixes and changes to the endgame.

Some of the notes make players jump in a triangle for joy:

  • Annoying inventory bug that recognized a right click as a left click has been fixed.
  • Staff attacks now hit large monsters and ricochet correctly.
  • Auto-shots with a bow and pistol now work as intended.
  • Gold and affinity are no longer lost spontaneously when you log in.
  • Summoners now see their pets’ health bars.
  • Tier 15 weapons and Tier 4 accessories can now be carried from level 50 instead of 60.

Nasty bosses finally fixed

But with the patch, especially bosses got their fat away. Many boss modifiers have been made weaker to make it easier for players to encounter.

  • Boss health reduced from 75% to 30% with the Tough modifier.
  • The boss regeneration modifier has been disabled.
  • The following boss modifiers now appear 20% less common: Fast, Tough, Fire Filled, Frost Filled, Lightning Filled, Physical Filled, Bleeding Filled, Holy Fulfilled, Shadow Completed, Poison Filled, Aether Filled , Powerful, elemental shield, material shield, occult shield.
  • All other boss modifiers now appear more frequently.
The bosses no longer have too many modifications

The bosses also received various adjustments in the endgame:

  • The bosses on the top floor only summon half as many monsters. This applies to the following bosses: Alpha Svriir, Devourer, Demon of Souls, Alastor, Sadistic Brawler, Pacified Exoskeleton, Aurora Knight, Demon of the Flesh, Lawyer and Primeval Guardian.
  • The cooldown of bosses’ summoning abilities has been increased from 20 seconds to 60 seconds.

These mistakes annoy the players

Even though the patch broadly makes the game better and fairer, not every player is happy with it. Some decisions made by the developers are perceived as errors and the update also brings problems.

  • The costs for the legendary reagent of the “Seeker Expedition” have been increased: This now costs 30,000 gold and 20,000 productivity, just like the reagent upgrade of the Dark Market.
  • Legendary items can no longer be included in the Black Market Rarity Upgrade Project.

A bug has also appeared in the legendary upgrades. So the developers probably did not process the rarity upgrades, but the quality upgrades. A little confusion, which affects the game in the endgame. This way, players cannot further increase the quality level of their Legendarys.

Patch 1.0.8.0 also brought bugs

Reddit users Wolvpoe also reports a bug that deletes the portals in the expeditions. This means that players cannot continue or return to the city and have to restart Wolcen. As a result, they lose their productivity and loot from the expedition that they need for the endgame.

The developers will probably have to deliver a hotfix to fix the errors.
