PO Tunggal Jaya Transport has just released two new buses from the Adiputro garage. Now what’s interesting is that one of the buses uses a Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno-style livery belonging to the character Takumi Fujiwara in the manga series and anime film Initial D.
As seen by detikOto on the Instagram account @garasi_bus_adiputro, Tunggal Jaya Transport released 2 units of SHD (Super High Decker) Double Glass buses using the new Jetbus 5 body which was first introduced at the GIIAS 2023 automotive exhibition, last August.
This new Tunggal Jaya bus uses an all black color with pink accents with the name New Mars hat. Meanwhile, the other bus uses a predominantly white color which is equipped with dark blue livery on the lower body. This bus livery is clearly inspired by the Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno in the anime film Initial D.
It’s not just the color combination and livery that are similar. But there is also writing that uses Japanese characters ‘藤原とうふ店’, which if translated into Indonesian is ‘Fujiwara Tofu Shop’.
For fans of Initial D, the name Fujiwara Tofu Shop is certainly familiar. Because in the manga or anime film, the Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno used by the main character Takumi Fujiwara, is a car used to deliver tofu merchandise to customers.
It is known that Takumi’s father, Bunta Fujiwara, was a tofu maker. But in the past, Bunta Fujiwara was also known as the number one wild racer on Mount Akina. After no longer racing, Bunta passed on his extreme hobby to Takumi.
Returning to the new Tunggal Jaya bus, this bus is increasingly synonymous with Takumi Fujiwara’s car livery thanks to the use of the name Takumi’s hat embedded in the windshield divider. The two new PO Tunggal Jaya buses will be used as a tourism fleet.
