New Technique Allows Researchers to Assess Supermassive Black Hole Life Cycle

BOY ZONE – Black holes are said to be present at the center of almost all large galaxies where they feed on galactic dust, gas and stars. They are some of the most mysterious celestial phenomena that have fascinated space enthusiasts and scientists alike.

To get a better insight about black hole Today, researchers from Dartmouth College have conducted a study that analyzed the light from black hole supermasif. This technique allows scientists to understand life cycle black hole this.

Light from black hole supermasif may differ in terms of color, brightness, and spectral marking. It is believed that this difference arises due to the different points of view and how much black hole covered by a “torus” or doughnut-shaped ring of gas and dust that surrounds the core of an active galaxy (AGN).

“The light signatures of these objects have baffled researchers for more than half a century,” said Tonima Tasnim Ananna, a postdoctoral research associate at Dartmouth. Ananna is also the lead author of a recent study published in The Astrophysical Journal, quoted by NDTV’s ZonaPriangan.com.

In this study, the amount of dust and gas around black hole supermasif depending on the rate of growth. When black hole as it feeds at high speed, they scatter dust and gas around which makes black hole looks brighter.

This study also highlights the basic differences between black hole supermasif with different light signatures. He also underlined that the difference cannot be explained simply by whether the observations occur through or around the AGN.

Ananna developed a computational technique to assess how obscuring matter affects properties black hole observed. Observations indicate that there is a need to revise the existing AGN theory which places obfuscated and unobfuscated AGNs in the same pool.
