New Study Reveals Different Heart Attack Warning Signs for Men and Women

A new study reveals that despite the fact that nearly half of people who experience a cardiac arrest will feel some symptoms 24 hours beforehand, the ‘really alarming’ sign is different between the sexes.

The difference is that women feel “shortness of breath” the day before, while men feel “somewhat sharp pain in the chest.”

“Our findings could lead to a new paradigm for the prevention of sudden cardiac death,” said the study’s senior author, Sumit Chough.

A heart attack occurs when the blood flow to the heart decreases, and the blockage is often the result of a buildup of fats and cholesterol in the arteries of the heart.

Common heart attack symptoms include:

Chest pain that feels like pressure or heaviness.

Pain or discomfort that radiates to the shoulder, arm, back, neck, jaw, or teeth, and sometimes to the upper abdomen.

cold sweat

exhaustion.

Heartburn or indigestion.

Sudden feeling dizzy or lightheaded.

Nausea.
