New rules on the Czech railways. Due to this, the timetables will also change

From Saturday, new safety measures will apply to train transport. The Railway Administration announced this on Tuesday. The main change is mainly the introduction of a unified system, where the driver is obliged to report that he is passing through a train (station without the presence of a traffic dispatcher, where trains cross, editor’s note) in all situations and wait for the dispatcher’s instruction to proceed.

The measure concerns lines with simplified traffic management according to regulation D3, abbreviated to D3, and previously only applied in some places. Newly, this reporting obligation applies to all seats and all trains. Among other things, dispatchers cannot cancel this obligation.

There are eighty such tracks in the Czech Republic with a length of 1,700 kilometers. In total, the railway network has 9.5 thousand kilometers.

“The new regulation brings a rule especially for drivers: I am with the train in the D3 transport station = I have to report to the managing dispatcher,” the press release of the Railway Administration reads.

The measure will mainly affect train drivers and dispatchers. “All drivers shall be informed of the measure and procedure and shall have the appropriate work equipment and documents. The reporting obligation is a common and well-established thing and all drivers control it without any problems, “assures Gabriela Novotná, spokeswoman for Czech Railways, assures that the measures for the News List will be smooth.

It is also forbidden to drive “in advance” from Saturday. Trains will have to run exactly on time and not leave the station before it is written in the timetable. In this case, it is mainly freight trains and non-public transport trains.

The changes themselves will have an impact on timetables and travel time, which will be slightly longer. The spokesman of the Railway Administration Marek Illiaš Seznam The reports said that these were, for example, lines 064 and 076 – from Mladá Boleslav to Lomnice nad Popelkou and from Mladá Boleslav to Mělník. “On these two lines, the impact of this measure is more serious than on the other D3 lines, which is why we have reflected it in the passenger timetables. This change has been duly discussed with the carriers. On other D3 lines, the impact is basically marginal, “explains Illias.

“The instructions of the railway operator are binding for us,” Novotná from Czech Railways told the List of Reports about the changes that are newly introduced. “The railway is operated by the Railway Administration. It manages traffic on the railway and compiles timetables, ”explains Novotná.

The Federation of Train Drivers of the Czech Republic understands and adopts new measures, but only for a transitional period. “In the interest of ensuring the safety of railway traffic, the protection of the health and lives of its participants, we do not reject them. However, these are not systemic and definitive solutions, this will be a modern line security equipment, “said the spokesman of the federation Libor Poláček to ČTK.

By introducing new measures, the railway administration is responding to the July accident near Pernink in the Karlovy Vary region, where two trains collided head-on. Two people died in the accident, another 24 were injured. The causes of the accident are still being investigated; according to preliminary reports, it was the driver of one of the connections who did not wait for the oncoming train at the station. After the accident, the condition of the D3 lines was criticized by the drivers, according to which these sections are not sufficiently secured and rely too much on the human factor.
