Sarmiento Park: the tension subsided and there was an agreement for the LGBTIQ + flag

Finally, on the night of this Sunday and after a very tense day that included confrontations between different groups and an action by the Police, the situation in the Sarmiento Park seems to have returned to calm after an agreement reached by the parties. in conflict.

It all started on Saturday, when the Municipality of Córdoba decided to raise the LGBTIQ + flag on the mast located in the El Dante area, as a way to adhere to Pride Day that is commemorated this Sunday.

The decision was made with suspicion by a group of people, led by former Malvinas veterans, who tried to remove it to raise the Argentine flag again.

Finally, after a first intervention by the security forces, the insignia was kept there.

But, this Sunday, the situation got out of control when a larger group of people with the same objective arrived there and met those who defended their hoisting.

Pushes, fights, struggles with the Police, insults and even a marble plaque placed by the commune that was destroyed in the midst of the chaos. That was the picture after 5pm and everything seemed to be heading for a long confrontation.

Finally, a channel of dialogue was opened between the parties in conflict and an agreement was reached: the LGBTIQ flag will remain in that place where it was placed until midnight on Sunday.

On Monday, from 8.30 am, the Argentine flag that was until before the initiative of the Municipality will be raised.

It was revealed, although not from official sources, that there is also a project to install a pole near the place where the Pride flag flies and the possibility of creating an artistic and cultural center in the area.
