The information comes from a report published by Democrats in the House of Representatives, according to several media outlets, including The New York Times, CNN and NBC News.

The former writes that the report describes how the foreign governments interacted with Trump’s businesses when he was president. Interactions that are supposed to be unconstitutional because Trump has allegedly not obtained the necessary consent from Congress.

The New York Times further writes that the transactions include millions of dollars transferred to, among other things, Trump’s hotels and Trump Tower.

“These documents reveal millions of dollars in payments made by foreign governments directly to Trump-owned companies while Trump was in the White House,” the report says.

Agreements with China and Saudi Arabia

The country that contributed the most is said to have been China, which reportedly spent $5.5 million on Trump’s properties. The sum currently corresponds to around NOK 56 million.

In second place comes Saudi Arabia, which according to the report paid more than 615,000 dollars – around NOK 6.3 million.

In the report, it is stated that in the same period Trump signed an arms agreement with Saudi Arabia worth over 100 billion dollars, writes NBC News.

CNN writes that Democrats are now questioning Trump’s refusal to impose sanctions on the Chinese central bank, which had a leasing agreement with Trump Tower.

According to CNN, the payments from China also came through their embassy in the United States and a state airline.

China adheres to the principle of not interfering in internal affairs, and does not comment on issues related to American domestic policy, Liu Penyu at the Chinese embassy in the United States replies to CNN.

However, he points out that Chinese authorities require Chinese companies to operate in accordance with local laws and regulations.

– Crazy

The New York Times writes that Trump’s son, Eric Trump, has for a long time said that foreign interests did not influence his father’s presidency, and that the profits from hotel stays went back to the state through voluntary donations.

Democrat Jamie Raskin, on the other hand, says on Thursday that this does not change the statutory requirements that were for the president.

According to The New York Times, Eric Trump pointed out in an email on Thursday that the leasing agreement with the central bank in China was entered into in 2008 and was for 20 years. Eric Trump further argues that his father’s business interests did not influence his decisions in his role as president.

– This narrative is insane, says Eric Trump, and claims that Trump is the president in US history who has made the toughest demands on the Chinese.

According to CNN, The Trump Organization says it donated over $450,000 – NOK 4.6 million – in estimated profits from foreign governments to the Treasury Department during Trump’s presidency.

The company claims to have also made no new foreign investments while Trump was president.

Among the other 18 countries, excluding China and Saudi Arabia, are Qatar, Kuwait, India and Afghanistan, writes NBC News.
