New party leader of the Berlin Social Democrats: Franziska Giffey – locomotive or burden for the SPD? – Politics

Federal Family Minister Franziska Giffey wants to become the governing mayor of the capital. She took the first step towards this with her election as SPD leader in Berlin. But the beam woman is at the same time a bearer of hope and a delicate mortgage for her comrades, says StZ author Armin Käfer.

Stuttgart – The Social Democrats have their own experiences with bearers of hope. The fate of Martin Schulz reminds us of this. He started with 100 percent support and still ran into the wall. Franziska Giffey has 89 percent of her comrades behind her – which is pretty close to 100 in the notoriously divided Berlin SPD. The supposed hope is starting the election year with a tricky mortgage.
