Of night trains leaving in the evening from one European capital to bring you to another the next day. It’s the extended project by Austrian, German, Swiss and French railway companies. Announced Tuesday, December 8, 2020, it will allow Paris to several major cities in Europe from December 2021.
Six new night lines, two to Paris
The signed partnership will leave theAustrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), the Austrian Federal Railways, to operate these new lines through its subsidiary Nightjet. It already operates mainly in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
–The future network of these night trains, currently limited to central Europe, extends to the west. Here are the new lines on which the companies have agreed, created from December 2021 to December 2024:
- December 2021: Vienna-Munich-Paris;
- December 2021: Zurich-Cologne-Amsterdam;
- December 2022: Zurich-Milan-Rome;
- December 2023: Berlin-Paris;
- December 2023: Berlin-Brussels;
- December 2024: Zurich-Barcelona.
The prices of the Austrian company are divided into three bands: 30 euros for a seat, 100 euros for a berth, 170 euros for a cabin.
500 million euros should be invested in new trains adapted to the various technical and safety rules. This European announcement comes while in France, the SNCF should relaunch the night lines between Paris and Nice in 2021 and to Tarbes in 2022.
