New mayors elected in Pfaffenweiler and Lauterbach – SWR Aktuell

In Pfaffenweiler, Lukas Mahler, 25, won the mayoral election. Jürgen Leichtle becomes the new mayor of Lauterbach.

The municipality of Pfaffenweiler in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district elected a new mayor on the first ballot. With over 60 percent of the vote, 25-year-old Lukas Mahler won Sunday’s election against his two competitors. City councilor Isabel Wendt received almost 25 percent of the vote, Dennis Heiland from Freiburg about 14 percent. The mayor in office, Dieter Hahn, did not show up. Voter turnout was nearly 70 percent.

Two-thirds majority in Lauterbach

The municipality of Lauterbach in the Rottweil district has also elected a new mayor. 58-year-old Jürgen Leichtle (independent) from Rottweil managed to get 68% of the votes in the first ballot and beat Michael End (15%) and Syville Zerr (9%). The turnout was almost 55%. The mayor in office Norbert Swoboda never got up again.

Long-term candidate with no chance

Long-term candidate Samuel Speitelsbach also ran in both elections. He had no chance in Pfaffenweiler and Lauterbach and received less than one percent of the votes in both places.
