New Interchange Opens on Salwa Road, Connecting Salwa Road and Mibaireek Street

Doha: A new interchange connecting Salwa Road and Mibaireek Street has been opened. Public Works Authority (Ashgal) has opened the new interchange constructed between Al Sailiya and Misaid Interchanges on Salwa Road. The new interchange will ease travel from Salwa Road to Mibaireek, Bu Nakhla, Al Seylia and Al Mirad. It will also reduce travel time from Mibayrik to Al Sailiya by 50 percent.

The new interchange will also provide an alternative to the nearby Al Sailiya Interchange while reducing travel times. It will also help reduce traffic congestion. The new one has a capacity of 8,500 vehicles per hour. By constructing service roads on both sides of Salwa Road, those coming to Mibaireek and Al Seylia area can reach directly and quickly through Salwa Road. The new interchange aims to ease the journey of those traveling from Doha to the Mibaireek and Al Sailiya areas, and from Mebaireek and Al Sailiya to Abu Nakhla, Mikayens and Al Qarana to Qatar’s south-western roads.

The new 2-level interchange consists of 2 main bridges of 330 m length. Several exit points, loop bridges and local roads connected to the new interchange have also been constructed to ease traffic in all directions. 3 km long by-pass roads and regional roads and 3 km pedestrian and cycle paths have been constructed. Both sides of the interchange have been greened by planting trees.
