Winter was a pioneering American Death/Doom band; Originally from New York, USA, they wrote some of the heaviest and slowest songs in doom metal, which is why they are sometimes considered more of a pioneering band of Funeral Doom than Death/Doom. Together with Thergothon and diSEMBOWELMENT their particular style (too slow for America and too raw for Europe) didn’t enjoy the popularity of their contemporaries like Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, and they disbanded in 1994 leaving behind a demo and two LPs complete.
