A new addition to electricity – announced by Prime Minister Morawiecki on September 15, 2022. Will it be 1000 PLN or more?

On September 15, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced a new addition to electricity. The contribution is intended for people who use electricity for heating, including heat pumps. The allowance for electric heating must be granted under the same conditions as the other allowances for energy. The electricity surcharge must amount to a minimum of PLN 1,000 – the government does not rule out that it will be higher.
On September 15, during a press conference, Prime Minister Morawiecki gave details on the solution of frozen electricity tariffs for consumption up to 2000 KWh. He also announced a new energy supplement for those who use electricity for heating.

A new addition to electricity. What is known?
In the case of homes heated with electricity or even with a heat pump, there is no possibility of keeping consumption below the limit of 2000 KWh. Therefore, the government is planning another energy supplement. This time for people who heat their homes with electricity.
The electricity surcharge is intended for households whose main heat source is a household appliance.

Who is the accessory for electric heating aimed at?
The electric heating additive should work similarly to other additives: for coal, pellets, fuel oil, wood or LPG gas. Therefore, any household where electricity is the source of heat will receive the subsidy. The condition will be a declaration submitted to the CEEB. There will also be the same principle of granting benefits: a supplement for a residential address.
How much will the electricity surcharge be?
There is no official information yet. The Infor site reports that the surcharge for people who heat with electricity will be 1000 PLN. Dziennik Gazeta Prawna in turn informs that it will be so not less than 1000 PLN and it is possible that the indemnity is higher.
The government will provide details of the solution later this week.
