New details on “Pokémon HOME” revealed

The Pokémon Company and Nintendo recently announced further details on “Pokémon HOME”. The app enables trainers to continue their Pokémon adventures across systems using the cloud service and to manage the Pokémon collection from many of their various games. “Pokémon HOME” will be released in February 2020 for iOS and Android devices as well as for Nintendo Switch family consoles.

Link Pokémon HOME to Pokémon games

“Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield” can be linked to the Nintendo Switch version of “Pokémon HOME”. Once linked, users can store or remove Pokémon that can be obtained through these games.

“Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!” And “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Evoli!” Can also be linked to the switch version. Pokémon can be transferred between “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!” And “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!” Or sent to “Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield”. After transferring a Pokémon from “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!” Or “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!” To “Pokémon Sword” or “Pokémon Shield”, it can no longer be returned to the original game. “Pokémon GO” will also be supported soon.

If users have subscribed to the premium service, which is subject to a fee, »Pokémon Bank« allows them to transfer Pokémon from games for Nintendo 3DS systems to »Pokémon HOME«. Once a Pokémon has been transferred from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME, it cannot be returned.

To celebrate the release of Pokémon HOME, Pokémon Bank and the PokéMover application will be free for a month after the release of Pokémon HOME. With »Pokémon Bank« and »PokéMover«, trainers can transfer their Pokémon from various games in the video game series. As soon as the Pokémon are in “Pokémon Bank”, it can be transferred to “Pokémon HOME”.

Swap Pokémon

There are four ways that Pokémon can be exchanged on mobile devices using Pokémon HOME.

  • In the Wunderbox discarded Pokémon can be exchanged with players from all over the world. Pokémon in the wonder box are exchanged even when »Pokémon HOME« is not being used.
  • About the Global Trade System (GTS) fans can share specific Pokémon for exchange or search for specific Pokémon. Then they are assigned to a trainer with suitable criteria.
  • With the help of group exchange players can open Pokémon Swap groups that other users can join. There is space for up to 20 users in each group. Exchange in groups is free of charge, but a group can only be created with a subscription to the paid premium service.
  • By the friends exchange players can swap their Pokémon with nearby users if they are on their friends list in “Pokémon HOME”. With the “Add friend” function, friends can be added to the friend list in “Pokémon HOME”.
