New Deal – United States: The Democrats, too much to the left or too much to the center?

We know the oddities of the American electoral calendar: if Joe Biden was invested in January 2021, the election had taken place more than two months before, in November 2020, just a year ago. While it is too early to take stock, several recent events have marked important and contradictory stages in his mandate.

Last week’s elections weren’t very good for Democrats, and confirms the president’s weakness in the polls. On the other hand, the vote on its “Build Back Better” infrastructure law on Friday 5 November was an undeniable success.

Difficult to assess the action of 46e US president, therefore, and difficult to see what the Democrats must do between now and the midterm elections, in a year: should the Biden administration refocus its policy or on the contrary, continue to the left? all?
