New album André Hazes ‘too painful’ for Monique

Hopefully also the last one so personal, adds André Sr.’s 26-year-old son. From the dissolute partygoer he was last year to the break with his girlfriend Monique: everything comes by. The singer takes the listener on a journey to who he is today: back with Monique, happy in love and for the first time really father of his son Dré.

“2020 is really a mix of emotions. That’s what I want to show with the album. I actually felt everything”, says André, who consciously doesn’t shy away from a subject. “That has always been in my nature. Even if I don’t do things right, I won’t crawl into my hole and wait for it to blow over. I’m man enough to say: I was wrong.”

According to André, ‘Home’ stands for the growth that he experienced musically but especially in the private area. “It sounds a bit floaty but I have been lost for quite a while and I found my way back. I hear that myself. The album is a story”, he says. “The tracklist tells how it started and how it ends happily again. I can listen to it every time with a great feeling.”

Monique is not so good at that, says André. Some songs are too painful for that. “Because she knows in which times they were written. But she is very happy with the ending and the whole story. That’s why I decided to set up the tracklist in such a way that it ends positively.”

For André the album, which will be in stores from Friday, means a kind of closure. Thanks to the corona crisis, he has been able to invest extra in his relationship with Monique in recent months. “That conclusion is coming slowly. We have had a lot of time for that now, also for me to discover that it is fun at home. I now know that I have nothing to run from. That it is actually just very good at home. It just took a little too long. “
