Long-distance ace Alina Reh has overcome her low injury and used a home game to set a new record: As part of the Einstein Marathon in Ulm, the Swabian was the outstanding runner over 10 kilometers in 31:21 minutes.

The feel-good factor is a very important one for Alina Reh. At home in the Swabian Alb, with a trusted team at her side and on familiar terrain, she feels best – she underlined that once again with a top performance on Sunday: The 24-year-old dominated the Einstein Marathon in Ulm In 2019 he switched from SSV Ulm 1846 to SCC Berlin, the 10-kilometer competition for women and only allowed two men to pass Robert Meyer (VfL Sindelfingen; 29:34 min) and Johannes Weizinger (Arriba Göppersdorf; 30:54 min).

In the end, Alina Reh recorded a new best time of 31:21 minutes – two seconds faster than three years earlier in Berlin – and with this time also moved to the top of the German annual best list, which was previously Miriam Dattke (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg; 31: 38 min). So far this year in Europe, only Brit Eilish McColgan (30:52 min) has been faster. After a long break from injury, missed the start of the Olympics and returning to her long-time coach Jürgen Kerl (we reported), she finally got back on the road to success.

Tim Nowak flashes endurance talent

Alina Reh not only had the home crowd at her side, but also many companions in various races: Her brother Noah Reh completed the 10 kilometers in 39:46 minutes. Trainer Jürgen Kerl impressed with the fourth-best marathon time of 2:45:41 hours and victory in the M50. And her former club colleague, the World Cup tenth in the decathlon in 2019, Tim Nowak, – accompanied by training partner Manuel Eitel on his bike – showed endurance qualities over 10 kilometers in 38:44 minutes in 23rd place in the men’s standings.

At the start of the preparation for the decathlon season, Tim Nowak had recently unwound a few kilometers at the side of long distance racer Thorben Dietz (both SSV Ulm 1846). The sixth DM of 2019 had to admit defeat only the Iranian Omar Tareq (TuS Lörrach-Stetten; 1:07:01 h) in the half marathon in 1:07:17 hours.
