Netflix shows will work on the industry game. In the near future, Netflix will improve its programming including the video games it provides to subscribers of their service.
Judging from Netflix’s Q2 report, it’s very likely that Netflix video games will start as soon as Q4 2021.
Netflix is indeed planning to dive into the gaming ecosystem, which will be led by Mike Verdu, the figure behind the success of EA Mobile and Facebook or Oculus. Verdu’s hiring lays out Netflix’s big ambitions in their newest ecosystem.
In a letter to their shareholders along with a report for Q2 2021, Netflix does plan to expand their business into video games. They also saw the success of “Bandersnatch” which was a sweet first step.
“We’re also in the early stages of expanding further into gaming, building on our previous efforts through interactivity (e.g., Black Mirror Bandersnatch) and the Stranger Things games,” said a shareholder letter Netflix sent in a written statement Monday (26/7). .
Netflix views it as a form of content and a category. Apart from movies Netflix will also try to include video games as part of their programming, free for their subscribers.
“We see gaming as a new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation, and unscripted TV shows,” the letter continued.
However, Netflix will focus first on games for mobile. It can be seen from their first market that they are casual gamers who are also fans of the Netflix service.
When the game program officially launched, Netflix suggested using a cool name in the user’s game account as a differentiator among others.
Netflix has also recently been in a good position from a financial perspective, which is claimed to be a major factor supporting their new gaming program.
