A sometimes childish mother in her early 30s with a teenage daughter who appears to be an adult at an elite school, two Gs in the title and the whole thing still takes place in tranquil New England? The Gilmore Girls Déjà vus in the new Netflix project Ginny & Georgia are no accident.

Netflix has commissioned a coming-of-age series on a mother-daughter team titled Ginny & Georgia. According to Variety ten episodes were ordered for a start of series production in 2020. Series creator Sarah Lampert and producer Debra J. Fisher (Being Mary Jane, Criminal Minds) are behind the project. Anya Adams (Fresh Off the Boat) will stage the first two opening episodes.

Have you heard that before? “Ginny & Georgia“Revolves around a 15-year-old neurotic named Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) who goes to an elite school and often feels more grown up than her 30-year-old mother Georgia (Brianne Howy), who is described as dynamic and irresistible. After years of flight, they settle in tranquil New England, where they lead a normal life with school drama and complicated love affairs.

Other roles include Diesel La Torraca as younger son Austin, Jennifer Robertson as neighbor Ellen, Felix Mallarda as young daredevil Marcus, Sara Waisglass as smart classmate Maxine, Scott Porter as JFK-esker Mayor Paul Randolph and Raymond Ablack as restaurant owner ̶L̶̶u̶̶k̶̶e̶ Joe.
