MOSCOW, Aug 22 – RIA Novosti. Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Vadim Nemkov defeated American Ryan Bader to secure the Bellator light heavyweight championship belt. The Bellator 244 match took place in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA. In the fourth minute of the second round, the referee stopped the fight, fixing the victory of 28-year-old Nemkov by TKO – the 12th victory of the Russian in his career in MMA with two defeats. He is currently the only Russian Bellator Champion and the first domestic light heavyweight league belt holder. Bader lost for the sixth time, on account of his 27 victories, another fight with the participation of the 37-year-old American was declared invalid. He remains the Bellator Heavyweight Champion for now. Two more Russians took part in the tournament. Heavyweight Valentin Moldavsky defeated American Roy Nelson by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27), scoring the tenth career victory with one defeat. Vladimir Tokov by a split verdict of the referee (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) lost to American Chris Gonzalez. The Russian lightweight lost in MMA for the first time, with five victories left on his account.
