Nelly Karim confirmed that she was terrified of experiencing the Saidi drama for the first time in her career, through the series “Nadra Currency”, as a result of the difficulty of the Saidi dialect, but she received extensive training until she mastered and loved it, so that she could present a convincing work that respects the viewer’s mind.
Nelly continues her presence in the Ramadan drama for the tenth year in a row, and revealed in her interview with Al-Ittihad that the work scenario attracted her with the issues he discusses, as he is exposed to a dispute between religiosity and customs, and when they conflict, some of them go to customs, and this is one of the inherited pests.
Nelly Karim mentioned that the Saidi drama is a popular success and has a great impact. The events of the series take place in the early nineties of the last century, with the beginning of the introduction of the mobile phone and its widespread use, in Qena Governorate, in Upper Egypt, while monitoring the intense struggle between two families over positions, land and power.
Nelly changed her artistic skin this year by going through the experience of the Upper Egypt drama, and she expressed her wish that the series would achieve the desired success, due to her confidence in the author, Dr. Medhat El-Adl, and the director, Mando El-Adl, explaining that she is happy to repeat her Ramadan experiences with them.
She presents the role of a nurse who gets married in unusual circumstances, and when the husband dies, she finds herself facing the “Abdul-Jabbar” family, which decides to deprive her of her right to inheritance, and the land that some families refuse to inherit to daughters. The work also discusses other customs in Upper Egypt, including revenge and arms trade.
Big challenge
Nelly added that she made a great effort to prepare for this character, as the character is far from the nature of her previous roles, and this in itself is a great challenge for her.
She refused to accuse her of being an actress of miserable roles, and said: I do not care about that at all, it is enough that I am comfortable with myself, for 10 years I have not done a job that I am ashamed of, I respect my fans and strive a lot to present a variety of works, and I presented the comedian in “100 W” and discussed a lot. Among the cases through “Al-Nisa Prison, for the highest price, under control, against breaking,” and others.
Bias for women
And about the extent to which she was psychologically affected by the roles she presented, Nelly confirmed that she was greatly affected during her embodiment of difficult roles, and she did not resort to a psychiatrist as some do, but she tries to control herself during this vortex. During the filming of the series “Under Control”, the personality of the “addict” was reflected in my features. From the depth of coexistence, and overshadowed my behavior and appearance internally and externally for a while.
Nelly denied what was reported about her deliberately raising women’s issues or siding with them after the success of the series “Faten Amal Harbi” last Ramadan, but she discusses the urgent problems that society as a whole suffers from, as there are things that we cannot imagine happening. And about her keenness to be present in Ramadan every year, she said: It seems that I am addicted to presenting dramas for the holy month, and I love to communicate with my audience on the screen in this season, and I am encouraged by the excellence of the works that are presented to me.
I don’t compete with anyone
Nelly admitted that she does not like to watch her work while it is being shown, but she is keen to follow the reactions through friends and colleagues in the artistic community, family and children, because the audience is the first criterion in judging any work.
She indicated that she is not interested in competing with anyone, because every artist has his audience, and her interest is limited to presenting distinguished work, and she has achieved many successes in recent years after experiencing the series “That”, “Al-Nisa Prison” and “Under Control”.
And about how she spent the month of Ramadan and her rituals in it, she said: For 10 years I have been spending the first days of the month, and sometimes most of it, filming until the series in which I am participating ends, and then I am looking for a vacation to regain my activity again.

About her work with her husband, Hisham Ashour, Nelly Karim said: This is the first time that we participate in an artistic work starring, and I am not afraid of criticism, because he is an actor before our marriage, and the role befits him in all aspects, and the audience will see him in a new and different personality that I hope will satisfy him. She added that her association with working with producer Jamal Al-Adl in recent years is because he has an artistic vision and a key partner in the business ideas he produces, builds the project with different elements, chooses works suitable for the general climate, and keeps pace with the changes of the era in which we live.
