Nej’ is ready to take the next step with her second album “Athena”. Having managed to bring together a large community of “poupiyas” with her first album “Enchantée” (2019) and the three chapters of her series “SOS” (2021-2022), the singer from Toulouse hopes to conquer the general public with this new opus ambitious containing 18 tracks including four prestigious collaborations. Surrounded by rapper Maes on “Panama”, Nej’ opens up to artists with a popular dimension like Bigflo and Oli, Slimane and Tayc on the titles “All Start Again”, “Je t’offreira le monde” and “Pardonne-moi “. “It’s a challenge that I take on with pleasure. There is always a little apprehension: am I going to succeed, is it going to be good? We mix two universes and that’s what’s cool and interesting,” says the Monde the interpreter of “Yabibi” with Zaho, who aims higher and higher. To promote the album “Athena”, Nej’ has inaugurated several pop-up stores in recent days across the four corners of France, and the enthusiasm it aroused in Lyon was so strong that it had to be evacuated by the police after a riot! There is no doubt that the fans who come to applaud him in concert will know the words to his new single “Warda” by heart. Opening the disc, this very cinematographic song sampling the title “Batwanes Beek” by the Algerian icon Warda offers the singer the opportunity to mix the Arabic language with the French language, to tell us about her romantic adventures. “Arabic music is more technical, because we don’t have the same vibrato, we don’t have the same way of playing a beat. These are different codes of French song and I find it interesting to mix them. But the emotion is transmitted in the same way” indicates Nej’, who immediately sets the scene thanks to the flights of an oriental violin: “I was looking for this sound because I find it more mature. I grew up and my music grew too. All of this was nourished by what I experienced, the highs and the lows. Failures, successes, encounters…”.
