The Neikenkalns Nature Concert Hall will host a song and dance festival for Valmiera region students

Riga, May 28, LETA. After a break of almost two years, the Valmiera County Schoolchildren’s Song and Dance Festival will take place in the Neikenkalns Nature Concert Hall in Dikļi on Friday, June 3, at 7 pm, Annija Skudra, a representative of the Valmiera Youth Center “Vinda”, informed LETA.

The concert “When Silence Sounds” will feature the nature concert hall with the sounds of instruments, steps and voices. The director of the concert is Inga Cipe.

The Song and Dance Festival is a symbol of Latvian unity and national identity, so it is especially important to preserve and nurture this value from an early age. Thus, the cradle of the Song Festival Dikļi has been chosen as the venue. It will remind children of the importance of strengthening traditions and being proud of their land, song and dance, explains Ant.

Around 900 participants and guests of Valmiera region student groups will perform in the concert. Folk dance groups, contemporary dance groups, wind orchestras and choirs will meet on stage. The young artists will have the opportunity to sing together with the well-known Latvian group “Sudden Lights”. A festive procession leading to the nature concert hall is also expected from 6.30 pm.
