Neighbors heard three shots when their 39-year-old neighbor in Wouw was shot on Monday afternoon. They tell Omroep Brabant that it was her ex who shot at her. The woman suffered serious injuries and is in hospital. The suspect was later arrested by the police.
One of the neighbors heard how the front door of the house was opened violently: “It seems that the woman did not want to open it. When the door finally flew open, three shots were fired immediately,” says a witness. The local residents are shocked: “Who would shoot a woman, I hope never to experience this again”, says a woman.
Children
There are great concerns in the area about the fate of the couple’s three children, one of whom is severely disabled: “How should that continue, the mother is in hospital and the father has been arrested,” says a woman. She heard the victim screaming and screaming after the shooting. “I quickly went back to the kitchen. I was really shocked and could hardly swallow a bite tonight. To me this is an assassination attempt. I just hope the woman survives.”
In the otherwise quiet, child-rich neighbourhood, the shock is great. A local resident saw the perpetrator running away with a hood after the shooting. “A trauma helicopter circled above the neighborhood and moments later the police tore away with sirens screaming. They must have figured out where the perpetrator was.”
Popping Sounds
Some local residents can hardly comprehend that shots were fired in their neighborhood in broad daylight: “I was inside and heard three popping noises. I thought someone was doing odd jobs outside,” says a man. In the neighborhood almost everyone knows each other, but the couple where the shooting took place had almost no contact with the neighborhood. “They are not from Wouw, but from Roosendaal,” says a man.
Police were busy investigating the home Monday evening. Men in white suits were engaged in forensic investigations in the hallway, where the shooting is believed to have taken place. And in front of the house is a large police trailer.
