Negative sentiment for NasDem Carry Anies, Prabowo Kian Kokoh

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

The investigation into political weather stations (PWS) recorded negative sentiment for the Party NasDem after stating Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate. On the other hand, the eligibility of Prabowo Subianto is solid.

PWS researcher Sharazani said his party recorded sentiments from conversations in the mass media. He said there was an increase in negative sentiment of about 5%.

“Before the statement, negative sentiment towards the NasDem Party was 11.7%, after the statement it increased to 16.1%,” Sharazani said in a written statement on Friday (7/10).

Sharazani said NasDem’s positive sentiment was so high the day Anies was declared a presidential candidate. NasDem was also the center of netizens’ conversation that day.

However, the sentiment turned negative in the following days. Sharazani said this was an alarm for NasDem.

“In general, the negative mentions against the NasDem Party are linked to the disappointment of the party members who have decided to appoint Anies,” he said.

In that poll, PWS also conducted a poll on the eligibility of presidential candidates. In the first position, the name of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is strengthened.

“The 30.8% eligibility of Prabowo Subianto, alias leader, is very significant to the two governors who are often cited as the toughest challengers to party general president Gerindra, namely Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and DKI governor Anies Baswedan, “he said.

Ganjar has an eligibility of 18.8%, while Anies has 17.5%. West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (7.4%) and Democratic Party President Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (5.1%) follow.

Previously, Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) also noted a downward trend in support for NasDem, which has close ties to Anies Baswedan.

SMRC research director Deni Irvani said support for NasDem has declined since it was reported that he was close to Anies Baswedan a few months ago.

“Support for the NasDem party in eastern Indonesia decreased from 10.8% (May 2021) to 3.9% (August 2022),” said Deni during the online survey results presentation, Thursday (6/10) .
